  • the top mac friendly poker sites in 2011

Updated In February, 2012 - Around 8% of all internet users use a Mac computer. Some online poker sites just write these prospective players off by not offering Mac compatible poker software. This guide is for Mac players who also happen to be poker enthusiasts. If you fall in that category you will be pleased to know that nearly every major online poker site is Mac friendly. The top two poker sites for Mac players are Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker. More people play at these two rooms than all other poker rooms combined.

Poker Stars is the larger of the two so I will start with them. The Mac compatible software at Pokerstars have plenty of special features. In several years I do not recall experiencing any lag that wasn't related to my internet connection. Even when they made it in the Guinness Book of World Records (GBWR) for hosting a tournament with 149,196 players. Pokerstars holds a number of records although not all of them are not listed in the GBWR. They are one of the fastest poker sites with echeck deposits and cashouts. Once I received an echeck cashout in under 24 hours at Pokerstars. That is certainly a record in my book.

Some poker sites take a week or more to even process my cashouts and then another 2-3 weeks for the check to arrive. That is the main reason I only play at either Pokerstars or Full Tilt Poker. When I feel like playing in a poker tournament I usually go with Pokerstars. They have a slightly larger selection as well as a wide variety of tournament formats. The same is true for sitngos. They recently came out with "Fifty 50" sitngos. Tn these 10 seat sitngos the prize pool will pay the buy-in amount to the top 5 players. Once 5 players have been knocked out each player will receive $.66 per 100 chips. These have grown very profitable as they are low risk. I know people that make a living playing in these.

That's enough about Pokerstars, let's talk about Full Tilt Poker. The Mac version of their software is just as smooth as the Windows version. There are countless extra features and it is setup to be mult-tabler friendly. Full Tilt upgraded their software not too long ago. They currently offer more card games than any other poker site. Last year they developed Rush Poker. When you play Hold'em at a Rush table you will be playing 200-250 hands every hour. That's about 2 1/2 times faster than normal tables. Full Tilt also accepts echeck deposits and processes cashouts the same way almost as fast as Pokerstars. Full Tilt also offers premium bank wires which can take a day or two. Ever since they added several new Draw poker games to their software I have been winning more than ever. I love 2-7 Triple Draw and Badugi poker. I've never seen softer competition at either of these games than at FTP. The players there are learning and are getting better each day but the action is still loose. They even have A-5 Triple Draw. It takes some time to get used to it but it is definitely worth checking out.
